Bulgarian beaches - Varna

One of the best Bulgarian beaches is Varna, Bulgaria's 2nd largest city situated on the east coast of Bulgaria.

This just happens to be one of Bulgaria's sexiest cities.

Its the 2nd largest city in the country, and also the largest of the seaside towns on the Black Sea Coast.

In summer, the beach is packed with both locals and tourists basking in the sun. There are some quirky foods to be tried while visiting the local beach and the food is one to be remembered.

Fried bait and local beer is a speciality to Bulgarians. This has to be done in once of the local resturants while overlooking the ocean and enjoying the sun.

It boasts some great accommodation and most of all, it has a world famous beach with plenty of activity.

You can find snorkeling, water ski'ers, kayaks and just about anything that moves on water.

Things to do in Varna

There are plenty of other things to do while visiting the region.

There are some great Varna furniture shops to enjoy if your looking to furnish your apartment, or there is some great night life to indulge in.

You can go to the Dolphin aquarium in the centre of town and see the show. Be warned, you may want to take one home with you - but certainly wont be allowed!

Or why not visit one of the famous Bulgarian beaches such as Golden Sands or Sunny Beach?

The Cathedral (as pictured top of this page) is certainly worth a visit. The cathedral (1884-1886) - second in scale after St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Sofia.

Or, if you have a hire car you can go and visit the famous Sunny Beach Golden Sands (or Zlatni Piasaci) at 4km long, is the largest beach resort on the Northern Black Sea coast.
Another one of the Bulgaria beaches is Golden Sands. It is situated 19 km north-east of Varna, 490 km east of Sofia.

If you go to here during the evening the whole place really comes to life. The cathedral looks amazing when it is all lit up in the evening - during the day it is a beautiful building but at night it becomes spectacular!!

Also worth a stop are the markets in the square during the evening - (just watch out for the pickpockets!)

The markets stalls look like side shows at a fair with the single light bulb dangling above the seller's head!!

Its a vibrant city that you must see by day and by night to get the true feel of the place.

Enjoy! More on the famous Sunny Beach of Bulgaria
