Along with their slavic counterparts in Ukraine, Russia and Lithuania, Bulgarian women are sought after by men all over the world. The courting process in Bulgaria is different from the Western one, with Bulgarians actually being quite shy in nature. Women in Bulgaria find strong and overt displays of courtship a little bit intimidating. Traditionally, the courting process is slow and and not dissimilar to that of teenagers.
Bulgarian girls have traditonal customs and are used to be treated with with respect. Women of older generations have traditional roles (typically in Villages) such as cooking and cleaning the house, but that also extend to tending to the garden and animals. Modern Bulgarian girls who live outside villages and in cities are much like western women. Generally almost all of the women can, and like to cook their favourite Bulgarian foods and also to cook for friends and family. Bulgarian women are also very tidy in general, and do house cleaning usually once a week. Although this is not a particularly religious country, the saying "cleanliness is close to Godliness" certainly applies in this case. To have an untidy house in Bulgaria, not matter how rich or poor you are, is to be a lazy person for these people. Many of the elder women in Bulgaria who live in Villages enjoy spending their time with friends, once finished their chores. You will often find the elders of the village all huddled together on a park bench talking (or some may say gossiping!) and enjoying the weather. It is not unusual if you enter a very small village to be stared at by the elders, particularly as they are not accustomed to the "modern and evolving Bulgaria" that the young people are used to. Bulgarian girls (and the Bulgarian people in general) can also be quite short with people when they speak. These people don't take kindly to mincing their words or beating around the bush. They say what they mean, and mean what they say. Women in Bulgaria are also not to be trifled with - they are known to be passionate and have a short fuse - particularly when it comes to jealousy. Shakespeare once said "hell hath no fury like that of a woman scored", and in this instance we know exactly what he means! Bulgarian women can be passionate and loving, but they are also very jealous and territorial when it comes to their partner. Don't tempt fate if you think you might like to see a Slavic woman angry - they are firey women and aren't afraid to let you know it.
