Some maps are more detailed than others, so it is probably a good idea to decide exactly what you are planning on doing once you have your car and the open road beckons. If you are intent on discovering the tourist hot spots of Bulgaria, then a detailed map of the main tourist areas is a good idea. If you fancy hiking in the mountains of Bulgaria, then a topographical road map might be a better choice. City road maps are useful if you intend on staying in Bulgaria for a longer period, for example if you are likely to be there on business.
