Bulgaria time

Time in Bulgaria is in the Eastern European Time zone, which is 2 hours ahead ofGreenwich Mean Time.

Like most European countries, Bulgaria also observes Daylight Saving / Summer Time, so in the summer time is shifted forward by 1 hour (GMT+3), and then back again by 1 hour during the winter (GMT+2).

Other countries within the same time zone include Romania, Estonia, Belarus, Greece, Lithuania, Turkey, Cyprus, and Ukraine.

But irrespective of what time it might say on your watch once you land in Bulgaria, be prepared for the pace of life to vary dramatically depending on where you choose to travel during your vacation or business trip.

Time is often described as grinding along painfully slowly when you are bored, so at least you are safe in the knowledge that Bulgarian time will never slow to a standstill while you are there.

Instead, it is more than likely that you will be wishing you had more time to spend in this fascinating and beautiful country. With so many places to visit, your time in Bulgaria will fly by so fast.

In no time at all, you will be packing to leave before you have even had a chance to catch your breath.

In Bulgaria, the pace of life in urban areas, like many thriving cities across Europe, tends to be frenetic and fast.

Many people who live and work in Bulgaria work hard and party long, so do not expect to be in bed nice and early every evening.

Instead, abandon all thoughts of catching an early night, switch off that annoying alarm clock, head out on the town, hit the nearest bars and clubs, and then party until the sun comes up.

If you find you need some respite from the fast paced living of city life, make sure you venture out into the mountains where life runs on an altogether different timetable.

Here the pace of life is far more relaxed and in some cases, time practically stands still.

In many isolated communities, you could be forgiven for thinking you had stepped through a mysterious time portal and inadvertently ended up in the middle ages.

In some villages, deep in the heart of the Carpathian Mountains, time has not quite made it into the 21st Century: transport is via horse and modern conveniences are a myth.

But however you choose to spend your Bulgaria time, you will enjoy every second of it.
