Trip of Bulgaria - Discover the Bulgarian seaside

ROUND TRIP OF BULGARIA Possible combination with one week vacation at the seaside- 8 days/7 nights

Trip of Bulgaria - Day 1Arrival at Varna/Burgas airport. Transfer to a hotel in Varna, Bulgaria’s “Black sea capital”. Accommodation, dinner and overnight.

Day 2

Breakfast. Drive to Arbanassi, one of the most picturesque villages in Bulgaria with unique architecture and atmosphere. Free time for lunch. Short drive to Veliko Tarnovo, the capital of the Bulgarian Kingdom during the Middle Ages. A walking tour of Tsarevets fortress and Samovodene market-place. Continue to Tryavna, a very nice mountain town, famous for its woodcarving traditions. A walking tour with visit to a Bulgarian Ethnographic house – the Daskalov house. Accommodation in a hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 3

Breakfast. Drive to Gabrovo and visit the open-air ethnographic museum Etara, where you will see workshops of the Bulgarian handicrafts from the 18th and 19th century. A stopover for visiting the memorial church of Shipka. Continue to Koprivshtitsa, the best preserved architectural reserve in Bulgaria, which played a key role in the great uprising against Ottoman rule at the end of the 19th century. Drive to Sofia and accommodation in a hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Trip of Bulgaria - Day 4

Breakfast. A walking tour in the city center with visit to Alexander Nevski cathedral, the St. George Rotunda – the oldest Christian church in the city, the St. Sofia Church which gave its name to the Bulgarian capital, the Parliament and many other sights. Free time for a walk and shopping on the main pedestrian street. Dinner and overnight stay.

Trip of Bulgaria - Day 5

Breakfast. Drive to Rila monastery – the largest and the most beautiful monastery in Bulgaria, located in the highest mountain on the Balkan peninsula and included in UNESCO World Heritage list. Continue to Bansko, a popular mountain resort and a town with unique architecture and atmosphere. Accommodation in a hotel. A walking tour with visit to Holy Trinity Church, the biggest and the richest in the region of Pirin mountain. Dinner and overnight.

Trip of Bulgaria - Day 6

Breakfast. Drive to Plovdiv, Bulgaria’s second largest city with a wealth of history and culture. Accommodation in a hotel. A walking tour in the Old Town of Plovdiv where you will see well preserved historical sights from different periods – the Roman amphitheatre, numerous houses and churches from the Bulgarian Renaissance, the Ethnographic museum and St. Konstantin and Elena church. Dinner in a typical Bulgarian restaurant. Overnight.

Day 7

Breakfast. Drive to Bachkovo monastery – the second largest in Bulgaria. Departure for the seaside. A stopover in Nessebar, one of the most popular resorts. A walking tour in the Old town, included in UNESCO World Heritage List, which still keeps its original romantic atmosphere with its narrow cobblestoned streets and beautiful houses in old style. Drive to Burgas, Bulgaria’s main port located on the Black Sea as well as a beautiful city with nice Sea garden. Accommodation in a hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 8

Breakfast. Transfer to the Varna/Burgas Airport or to another hotel (if the program is combined with 1 week vacation on the seaside.)
