Sunny Beach Bulgaria: The largest resort on the Black Sea Coast

Sunny Beach Bulgaria is one of Bulgaria's biggest seaside resorts.

Sunny Beach is buzzing with life, particularly during the summer, and created as the cheap alterative to Spanish Costa Del Sol.

The beach is pulsing with non-stop activities of all kinds. There are international pubs, minigolf, parasailing and a variety of restaurants.

Sunny Beach is catered so much to international tourists that you wont even notice you are in Bulgaria!

The prices also reflect the Black Sea's most expensive riveria.

Restaurant prices are equiviant to what you would pay in Western Europe however the expense will buy you privelliges such as:

Exclusive sun beds, multi-national newspapers, dozens of travel agencies and ATM's galore.

The coastal road to reach Sunny Beach is the same road you would follow to get to Varna, Bourgas and Golden Sands.

Sunny Beach Bulgaria - Getting there

You will find the central bus station just off the main street in Sunny Beach. You can also find busses from this station to visit some of the other Black Sea Coast destinations.

Freqent busses go to Varna that cost 8 Leva, takes two hours and leaves every 30 minutes. Nesebar (2.50 lev) , Burgas (2.50) and Pomorie (1.80 lev) are all around 30 minutes bus ride away and depart from the same station.

Getting Around

There are pretty much three options to get around Sunny Beach Bulgaria. Trolleybuses are 2 lev and go along most routes every 15 - 20 minutes from 9am - 11pm.

There is also the option of hiring a scooter from the beach stalls from around 20 lev an hour.

Eating Out

Like all beach side resorts in Bulgaria, there are numerous food stalls where you can pick up a (not very delicious) slice of pizza for around 2 lev.

McDonalds and other multinational chains seem to charge two to three times more than at their brances elsewhere, so you're better off avoiding these.

Restaurants

Fat Cat (mains are around 10 - 20 lev. Open 24 hours)

On the beachfront facing the Glarus Hotel this is a typically boisterous restaurant and aimed mainly at British Tourists. The menu serves pizzas, pies, steaks and curries, along with numerous big screens showing Sky Sports.

Steakhouse Watermill (mains from 12 lev. Open for Lunch and dinner)

Just past Neptun Beach Hotel you will find one of the best steaks in town. Just like its name suggests, this steakhouse specializes in... you guessed it... Steak! Gammon, T-bone and Sirloin are among the favourites dominating the menu.
